Legacy Gifts from Retirement Plans

Gifts from Retirement Plans at Death Diagram

How It Works

  1. Contact someone in your Human Resources department or your plan provider to obtain a designation of beneficiary form.
  2. On the form, name UJA-Federation of New York a full or partial beneficiary by indicating the percentage of your plan you would like to designate for your legacy gift to UJA. You should include UJA’s full legal name: United Jewish Appeal-Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, Inc. and tax ID number: 51-0172429.
  3. To be recognized for your gift, send a copy of the designation of beneficiary form and/or a completed commitment letter to any UJA Planned Giving and Endowments staff member or to plannedgiving@ujafedny.org.
  4. Funds are transferred to UJA by the retirement-plan provider at death.

Benefits

  • No federal estate tax on the funds
